Scope of this Standard

This standard specifies the minimum requirements for garbage bags, manufactured from high density polyethylene blends, and which are used for the disposal of non-hazardous waste. It includes requirements for:
a) size designation;
b) film integrity;
c) heat seal integrity, burst resistance, impact resistance, leakage resistance; and
d) labelling.

NOTE: The chemical properties of the film are not addressed in this standard. Garbage bags covered by this standard are not intended for use in the disposal of hazardous waste, tree branch cuttings and combinations of materials which produce combustive reactions.
